Today the Wyre Forest Phoenix County team welcomed Mitcheldean Sc Ladies, who play in the Cheltenham Gloucester League, for our final pre-season friendly at Brown Westhead Park.
Our Formation was working from the start with impressive performances from Vicky Hyde, commanding the Mid-field, and Natalie Westcott out on the wing. We created chances from the off, with near misses, the Keeper and the crossbar denying us, but it was Emily Taylor who found the net twice to give us a 2-0 lead at half time.
The second half saw more of the same but with Vicky Hyde replacing Eleni Popadopalous in Goal. We then saw a deserved Goal for Natalie Westcott and another for Emily to give her a hat-trick. So many chances were missed in this game but a 4-0 win will boost team confidencefor when our season starts in two weeks.
This week's performance saw all the team putting in 100%, and the performance was much improved over two weeks ago, especially the passing. A true team performance today, with lots of positives, well done Ladies.
A special thank you to Molly Brookes who stepped up from the Under 18 team to play her first Ladies game and who coped really well.
Also thank you to our opposition who travelled up from the Forest of Dean to play giving both teams some unknown opposition. We look forward to an end of season friendly on their home ground.
