Kinver Colts Girls 3 v 1 Wyre Forest Phoenix
Phoenix under 13's were warned before kick-off about using their arms when tackling, however after only a couple of minutes we gave away a penalty for a push in the box. Kinver converted this despite keeper Bethany Savage getting a hand to it. Phoenix went on the attack and had a couple of chances to equalise, but another silly error cost Phoenix another goal. Kinver were quicker to react to a ball downfield and ran through to make it 2-0. This was harsh on Phoenix as they had played really well against tough opponents.
After half time, Phoenix were pushing to get back in the game and when Angel Childe chased a lost cause the Kinver defender pushed her over in the box. Penalty. Izzy Smith stepped up calmly and blasted it into the top right hand corner, Game on. Phoenix pushed and pushed for the equaliser and with a couple of minutes to go were caught on the break with a fantastic 3 pass goal from Kinver.
The girls were unlucky and could have easily came away with something out of the game but again it wasn't our day finishing 3-1. Goals: Izzy Smith who was also player of the match.
Withymore Colts 2 v 3 Wyre Forest Phoenix Flyers
Another away game for the under 14 Flyers, who were nearly at full strength at Withymoor Colts. However, it was a sloping pitch which was really heavy due to the rain but the Flyers were up for it.
The Flyers had the kick off (uphill) and were straight on it, with some good team play that allowed Sydney Harris to put in a cracking shot that was going in all the way, but was sealed with a little rebound off a Withymoor defender. Withymoor were not happy and it was 2 minutes later that a lob from the high right hand side dipped over Emily Pitt in goal to get the equaliser. It was going to be one of those games given the pitch and conditions. The Flyers dug in, defended well up hill and had some chances, but couldn't make it happen. Emily did well in goals and it took until the 32nd minute for Withymoor to capitalise on the home pitch advantage from a corner to take the lead just before half time (2-1).
It didn't take long for the Flyers to settle in to their advantage of the pitch in the second half and a great run from Syd, beat three of their players that was crossed in for Erin Price to pick up and find the back of the net after 3 minutes. At the restart and the ball came out to Megan Morris on the high right wing 2 minutes later for her to launch a shot at goal from 30 yards out sailing on target hitting the far post to find the back of the net. The Flyers kept up the pressure and despite numerous chance, and have to sub the keeper for an injury, Withymore couldn’t do anything about the Flyers lead who held on for a well-deserved win at 2-3. Goals: Erin Price (1), Megan Morris (1), Sydney Harris (1). Girl of the game was Sydney Harris.
Wyrley Pumas 3 v 1 Wyre Forest Phoenix
The under 18 were away to Wyrley Pumas this weekend. However despite a goal from Isabella Zaffino and Player of the Match Molly Brookes they still lost 3-1..

Midwest Counties Female Football League
Wyre Forest Phoenix County 5 (0) v 0 (0) Ludlow Ladies
Today WFP Ladies County hosted Ludlow Ladies which turned out to be a dirty game due to dreadful weather and muddy pitch. Some of the football today despite the very trying conditions was good to see from both sides. Despite creating 4 good chances in the first half, the nearest to a goal was a shot against the bar from Mellissa Knott and a fierce shot from 20 yards for Ludlow, saw a halftime score 0-0.
Phoenix started to take control of the game in the second half, but we just couldn’t score until a scramble in the box saw the ball at Vicky Hyde’s feet shooting under the keeper to make it 1-0. Within 5 mins of the restart a fantastic from run by Emilia Sinden saw her strike the ball to go in off the post Soon 3-0 a lovely flowing move saw the ball fall at the feet of raiding fullback Georgia Lambert who shot across the keeper into the net. Natasha Cweitkow then received a cross, which fell at her feet, and although despatched tamely somehow squirmed under the keeper for her first team goal. Finally a great right wing cross which flew passed the keeper for Mellissa Knott to fire in, to finish the score at 5-0. Girl of the game went to Georgia Lambert. In summary a slow start but a good finish in very difficult conditions. Next game away to Bartestree Ladies. Goal scorers are in Bold.
West Midlands Regional Women's League Home
Wyre Forest Phoenix 0 v 3 Coventry Development Ladies
WFP Ladies were only able to field a team of 9 against a full strength Coventry, and they turned up with spirit and determination and refused to be walked over.
They held out for 30 mins before Coventry finally broke them down with a scrambled goal in the 6yd box. By this time the wintry showers were hitting hard and the team were happy to go in half time just 1-0 down.
The second half started badly, as no sooner had the whistle blown for the re-start, Coventry pounced and scored within a minute. Not what the team wanted, but these players rolled up their shirt sleeves, gritted teeth and dug in. Coventry pounded us time and time but we kept denying them more goals as keeper and player of the match Tracy Evans was on the best form of the season and pulled off 2 world class saves.
Coventry did finally get a third goal, but the day goes to those 9 players who would not accept defeat and battled right to the end.
