GARY Whild says he’s happy to remain in the Harriers hotseat after being reassured by new chairman Rod Brown there will be no repeat of the club’s pay issues next season, writes Peter McKinney.

The Reds boss, who is on a rolling yearly deal, looks set to stay on at Aggborough to try and revive the club’s flagging fortunes.

He admits he’s set to work with one of the smallest budgets in the Vanarama Conference next season as the club looks to spend within their means.

The major shareholders stepped in last Friday as Ken Rae resigned as chairman and John Davies and Gino Ruffinato left the board.

Brown, who was manager at Redditch United with Whild as his assistant, was named chairman on Monday.

Brown spoke to the players and management on Tuesday to explain what had happened and his plans.

“The big thing about Rod for me is not his track record on the pitch but what he’s done as a businessman,” said Whild.

“I know he’s someone who doesn’t get involved unless he’s planning to succeed and he rarely fails in anything he does.

“I’ve been given assurances about certain things for next season, I’ve also got bills to pay as well, and I’ve also got an affinity with the club.

“I’ve been told that I am a big part of the club’s plans for next season with the way the budget it is and I wouldn’t want to leave Harriers if there is something I can do to help."

He added: “Rod had a meeting with the players and the management team to talk about a few things and it was very refreshing.

“He was frank, open and honest, which is something that has been lacking over the last season and it was well received by the players.”

Whild also revealed Jared Hodgkiss, Jack Byrne and Aman Verma have triggered appearance clauses this season and will be offered new deals for the 2015-16 campaign.

Meanwhile, the manager is set to field his most experienced team available when table-toppers Barnet come to Aggborough on Saturday.

The Bees could clinch the title if they win the game and Bristol Rovers slip up against Dover.

Harriers have recalled the on-loan Jordan Tunnicliffe from Hednesford, who went as part to help settle a debt to the Pitmen.

Kidderminster had owed Hednesford a sell-on fee for the cash they received for Chey Dunkley’s transfer to Oxford in January.

Byrne has returned to training after being out with a hamstring injury, while Craig Reid, Josh O’Keefe and Kevin Nicholson all may feature.

On Tuesday, Harriers play tenants Worcester City in the final of the Worcestershire Senior Cup at Aggborough (7.45pm ko).

Meanwhile, the players and coaching team are set to pay for the fans’ coach to Eastleigh on April 25.

Kidderminster have also revealed a pre-season friendly against Birmingham City on Saturday, July 18.
