Phoenix put in some excellent performances this weekend, but only one team claimed any points from their game. The County team signed off their season by witnessing the League winners’ cup presented to Hereford Lads Club at the end of their match.

Wyre Forest Phoenix 1 v 4 Redditch United Jets
Phoenix Under 13's played their last home game of the season today and produced a wonderful performance in which the score line does not reflect.
Phoenix took the game to Redditch and had a number of early chances which they didn’t take. The game then levelled out a bit with both sides having attacking and defending to do. It looked like it was going to be a goal less first half until a mistimed clearance gifted Redditch a goal on the stroke of half time.
Phoenix went out to attack the second half which allowed the game to open up. Within 5 minutes, again another defensive mistake allowed Redditch to increase their lead. Phoenix were not going to give up and when Angel Childe produced a superb turn and shot into the corner with her left foot, it was game on. Redditch looked rattled and Phoenix had opportunities to equalise, however they didn’t take them and Phoenix were then caught late on with 2 goals that could have been avoided to give the opponents a 1-4 victory which flattered them and was not a true reflection of what was a fantastic game. Goal: Angel Childe
Bilbrook Wanderers 2 v 5 Wyre Forest Phoenix
Phoenix Under 18 travelled to Bilbrook Wanderers to play their penultimate game of the season. This resulted in a victory for Phoenix with the final whistle showing a 2-5 score. Goals: Eilidh Shakespeare (1), Kathryn Baylis (2), Naomi Wilkinson (2). Eilidh Shakespeare was Girl of the game.

Midwest Counties Female Football League
Hereford Lads Club Ladies 2 (0) v 1 (1) Wyre Forest Phoenix
WFP Ladies County played our final game of the season away at league champions elect Hereford Lads club. The game started when we gave them a guard of honour as they walked out on the pitch as recognition of this achievement. However as we got down to the game Phoenix forgot as both teams produced 90 mins of a pulsating and intriguing football, with on the day two evenly matched sides. With only Phoenix standing between the champions and a full 20 wins we were straight at them from the kick off. Within 5 mins we were ahead after a great passing move which fell to Kirsty Roberts on the right who chipped the keeper making the score 1-0. Hereford weren’t going to lie down, but all their efforts were nullified by our defence, only allowing them shots from distance. Holding them and producing some counter attacks we reached half time 0-1, despite them hitting the crossbar.
We knew Hereford would come out firing on all cylinders and despite trying to keep them quiet keep them quiet so we could keep a foothold in this game we conceded a corner. It was from this corner Hereford levelled from a really good header. We upped our game and so did Hereford, the game was end to end with no one really looking like producing a goal. Hereford created only a few more chances than us but as the whistle approached Hereford were awarded a corner. We defended well and managed to repel for a throw in, however with 91mins on the clock we fell asleep and didn’t stop the quick throw which produced a cross which was challenged for by our defender and their striker. It somehow is cannoned off some part of their bodies and just crept in over the line making the score now 2-1. We kicked off and went on the attack, however Herefords prayers were answered when the ref blew the final whistle for their 20th Win of the season. Goal: Kirsty Roberts. Keeper Tracy Evans was their nomination for girl of the game.
