Wyre Forest Phoenix fell victims along with other members of the Wolverley community when the club house at Wolverley paying Fields on Mill Lane was attacked by mindless vandals on Friday night / Saturday Morning. Not content with smashing one window, they broke every window and smashed the Kitchen Door. This is just a couple of weeks after the windows had been replaced following another breakage.
The facility is run totally by volunteers, making the finances tight. Incidences like this just spoil things for so many members of the community, just for a few minutes of "fun".
We and the Wolverley playing fields management committee have now done what they can to make safe the building by boarding up the windows, until we can sort out the repairs. This is essential to enable the children and other community members to continue to use the facilities in a safe environment.
We would like to appeal for any witnesses to contact Lyndon Darkes, Chairman of Wolverley Playing Fields Management Committee, on T: +44 (0) 1562 851 198, M: +44 (0) 7967 823837, or alternatively to the Police who have been requested to investigate.
We would also like to appeal for any local companies who may be able to help in any way to contact us, particularly any local glazing companies who may be able to donate material etc. for the repairs. Ideally this would include UPVC frames with either Safety glass or suitable substitute.
This campaign has already been shared on Facebook to try and catch the perpitrators, so the more help the better.
Lyndon Darkes Chairmain of Wolverley Playing fields management commitee reports “The community is absolutely outraged and already we have had many kind offers of support, with the local Village Store already raising money, a local Business man is having shutters made through one of his companies, and 3 or 4 people have offered rewards for information leading to a prosecution so any help would be gratefully received.”
All help will be greatly appreciated so please do whatever you can, whether it is by sharing, volunteering skills or more, or you have information. The club can be contacted through our website at http://www.clubwebsite.co.uk/wyreforestphoenixfc
