Wyre Forest Phoenix have started the new season in slow form as they fight to blow the cobwebs away after the break

Wyre Forest Phoenix Flyers 1 v 2 Solihull Moors
The Under 15’s kicked off at Mill Lane, their home pitch, and despite the holidays and some players unable to attend the team managed a solid 11 to kick off.
A strong start and the Flyers were starting to take control. After 10 mins the Flyers were denied by the post and this continued to be the trend. Despite their efforts could not find the net to meet half time 0-0. The second started but the Flyers lack of training and games was showing with some tiredness and injuries/strains adding pressure in a now longer game. This slight dip was punished by Solihull after 7 minutes and they found a way through to score. The Flyers tried hard to up the game, and after 26 minutes Sydney Harris, after numerous great runs, finally made it count and found the back of the net to equalise. Solihull were getting a bit flustered and changed shape, allowing them to get through after 32 minutes to find the back of the net again. The Flyers battled on to the end but couldn't quite penetrate the Solihull defence and the game finished 1-2.
This was always going to be really tough but the result really couldn't have been closer. Girl of the Game was Charlotte Morris for her hard work, strength and determination in midfield.

Wyre Forest Phoenix 1 v 2 Kinver Colts
The Under 14's welcomed Kinver Colts to Mill Lane for the first league game of the season. The girls have worked exceptionally over the summer to develop but unfortunately, the game ended in a disappointing, and controversial circumstances. Despite dominating the first twenty minutes, the girls went a goal down. The girls continued to battle, but despite an exceptional performance by Beth in Goal, including a penalty save the half ended with the girls trailing 1 – 0.
We started to the second half in the same fashion we finished the first. But the ball appeared to be playing for Kinver, literally refusing to penetrate the Kinver goal, despite wave after wave of attack. It seemed it would be one of those days, and then we finally equalised with five minutes remaining, thanks to Izzy Smith firing a shot which was literally too hot for the keeper to handle. A fantastic game was spoilt when the referee advised 20 seconds remained, for the game to continue long enough for Phoenix to take a throw and hold the ball for approx. 30 seconds, and for Kinver to pinch the ball and hit the net at which point the whistle blew, To finish 1-2. This was a bitter and unfair pill for the team to swallow.
Lightwood Lions 1 v 0 Wyre Forest Phoenix Flyers
The Under 15’s First away game of the season was on 4G and again with limited players.
The Flyers started well on the 4G surface, having the best possession and attacking formation. Lightwoods however had a boy in goal, who was playing really well, and it was tough to finish. The Flyers tried plenty of shots but couldn't get to the ball on this fast surface to finish. It was a shame therefore when after 35 mins Lightwoods scored off a corner that the Flyers couldn't clear. 0-1. The first half finished with the Flyers a player and a goal down.
The second half and the Flyers were determined to get back on top and were playing well, until they again went down to 10 players after 10 mins. The Flyers dug in and still looked the stronger team. Lightwoods had more chances but were denied by the bravery and skill of Courtney Anslow, whilst at the other end the Flyers continued efforts were being frustrated. However, the Flyers held strong but couldn't get the break they so deserved to finish 1-0. It was unlucky not to have got at least a draw.
