STOURPORT Swifts demonstrated their silky and steely sides when recording their first win in six games.
Joe Phillips bagged a fine individual effort to fire them 1-0 up at Westfields on Saturday.
But they had to defend for 40 minutes of the second half after Paul Hurrell was sent off for two bookable offences.
The 1-0 win was the first in the Midlands Premier since November 28.
Manager Mark Phillips said: “I thought we played well against Heanor and Alvechurch in recent games.
“We lost 1-0 at Church to a late goal but I thought we deserved a draw. We built on those performances against two of the top three sides.
“We played some good football in the first half and Joe cut in from the left and finished well.
“Unfortunately, Paul was sent off at the start of the second half and we had to battle hard, but we showed spirit and determination, which was very pleasing.”
Swifts are hoping to play their first game at their Walshes Meadow home since November 28 when they take on Continental Star at the weekend (3pm ko) and are then set to tackle Lye Town next Tuesday night.
