KIDDERMINSTER picked up their second win of the new Birmingham and District League Division One season.
They sit fourth in the table after a 42-run success last Saturday after Australian Angus Robson hit 90 on debut.
Moseley were the visitors to Chester Road hoping for their first win of the season. They won the toss and told Kidderminster to bat on an excellent track which the home side took full advantage of.
The opening pair of Robson and Andy Kimberlin put on 119 before the latter was out for 44, caught and bowled by a slower delivery from Ali Awan, Moseley’s most successful bowler, who took 3 for 61.
Robson continued to plunder the visitors’ bowling, hitting 90 from 99 balls (7 fours and 3 sixes) before being caught on the boundary.
Captain Neil Pinner continued the good work with a stylish 53 from 52 balls (3 fours and 2 sixes). He was ably assisted by Richard Kimberlin (17 from 14 balls) and Charlie Stainforth (26 from 25 balls) who moved the score on to 276 for 6 wickets from 50 overs.
In reply, Moseley lost wickets regularly with Bhavik Patel (45) and Ali Awan (55 not out) the main contributors. Charlie Stainforth (4 for 40) caused the main damage, removing the dangerous middle order with Robson adding three catches in the deep to complete his Kidderminster debut in style. Moseley finished on 234 for 9 wickets in 50 overs but were 42 runs short.
Kidderminster travel to Shifnal this weekend (noon start).
Meanwhile, Kidderminster travelled to Bromsgrove for the first round of the T20 competition last Sunday.
Bromsgrove opted to bat first and scored 93 for 8 wickets after looking, at one point, to make a much higher score. Charlie Stainforth put the brakes on, however with figures of 3 for 6 from 4 overs (two maidens). Liam Weston also took 2 wickets for 15 runs.
After losing an early wicket at 16 runs, Andy Kimberlin (51 not out) and Shameer Ahmed (32 not out) remained unbeaten to reach 94 for 1 wicket in 16 overs and win the match for Kidderminster by 9 wickets.
