CAPTAIN Neil Pinner says he's looking forward to getting back to Chester Road this Saturday following Kidderminster's loss at Shifnal.
KCC fell to their second defeat of the season with a three-wicket loss last Saturday.
After losing the toss in difficult conditions, the visitors reached 153 with only three batsmen making double figures. Shameer Ahmed (27), Pinner (78) and Connor Smith (14) were the highlight, though Gomez Vincent (6 not out) partnered Pinner to a last wicket stand of 36 to lift the score.
However, the home side reached their target in the 42nd over for the loss of seven wickets. The main contributors were Ross Aucott (44), Steve Leach (24) and Chris Murrall (29).
Pinner said: "There was plenty of rain around in the week before the game and the pitch was a little damp when we got there and it was a bad toss for us to lose.
"They have some good bowlers and Alex Wyatt took early wickets which made life difficult. I think we've then given away a couple of wickets in the middle order with loose shots.
"Given that, I thought we did okay to get to 153 but that sort of total meant they could go hard from the start of their reply and get ahead of the rate and they did that well.
"We'll just look to move on quickly from it and we're looking forward to playing at home this weekend on a good wicket."
KCC host Shrewsbury on Saturday (noon start) before travelling to Knowle and Dorridge on Sunday for the next round of the National Knockout Cup (1pm).
Meanwhile, Pinner is happy with how his side have adapted to life back in Birmingham and District League Division One.
"I'm pretty pleased overall. We're back at this level after promotion last year and I think we've strengthened and are in a much better position than the last time we were here.
"Last time we only got two wins all season and we've got that already. Everything feels better, we're more of a unit.
"We're confident we'll be okay this year but our first aim is to make sure we stay up and then build from there."
Barney Morgan and Richard Kimberlin are absent this Saturday but that could mean more first team chances for Sam Beadsworth and Lewis Stainforth.
