WYRE Forest Ladies Hockey Club has won National Lottery Funding.
Wyre Forest Ladies Hockey Club picked up their sticks and registered as a new club back in September 2018, since then the club has gone from strength to strength encouraging ladies in the area and surrounding areas to join.
After just one season as a new team, the ladies finished third in the division just behind the two Birmingham University teams, with 40 points and winning 13 out of 18 games over the season.
This achievement has been recognized and to support the club’s growth and development they have been awarded a Sport England grant of £9,078, funded by the National Lottery.
The club also has an active social calendar including holding its own fundraising events within bingo and quiz nights, fun run and having club Christmas and end-of-season dinners.
Anyone who wants to get involved in the club's 'Back to Hockey' sessions, which start Thursday, May 23 from 7.30pm - 9pm for 5 weeks at Winterfold House School, visit facebook.com/wyreforestladieshc or email wyreforestladieshc@gmail.com.
