JOE Ironside has left Kidderminster Harriers to move to League Two side Macclesfield Town.
The popular front man ends a spell of just over two years at Harriers. He netted 48 goals in 96 appearances for the Reds and had been offered a long-term contract to remain at Aggborough.
However, even the appointment of new boss John Pemberton, who Ironside worked with at Sheffield United, couldn't convince the hitman to turn down a move to League football.
He said: “The new manager there is hard-working, disciplined and committed and, on top of that, he’s a top, top bloke.
“When he managed me at Sheffield United, I was just a boy – the things I was taught then are the things I am still improving on now, and a lot of what I know now is down to him.”
Reflecting on his spell at Harriers, he added: “My time with Kidderminster has been the most enjoyable two-and-a-half years of my footballing career.
“Everyone at the club and all the fans have been brilliant for me, so I’m going with the club held in the highest regard possible.
“Playing in the league has always been my aim but, in terms of non-league, it would always have been Kiddy.”
