DUDLEY Town's dreams of a trip to Wembley this season were brought to an abrupt halt when beaten 1-0 by Northamptonshire side Wellingborough Town in the Buildbase FA Vase.
A solitary goal from Steve Lovell which was struck right on the stroke of half time was enough to give Wellingborough a slender 1-0 success and prevent the Robins from reaching the Third Round for the first time in their history.
The Robins return to West Midland League Premier action this Saturday with a local derby game at Dudley Sports.
Bewdley Town's proposed journey to Shropshire side Shawbury United was washed out by the wet weather which allowed league leaders Shifnal Town to stretch their lead at the top to nine points following their 5-0 beating of arch rivals AFC Bridgnorth.
Tom Hill hit home a hat-trick, taking his league tally of goals to 14, the same number as fellow Shifnal marksman Kyle Montague, who was also on target against Bridgnorth with Craig Radford completing a nap hand.
Second placed Bewdley hope for better luck with the weather this week when they entertain Littleton at Ribbesford Meadow.
But there was better news for Black Country Rangers who bounced back from a poor run of form to beat Littleton 3-2.
Having started the season at the former Oldbury United ground in York Road, Black Country have now switched home venues and based themselves at Dudley Sports in Brierley Hill.
However Black Country soon found themselves in trouble against Littleton after trailing to goals from the league's leading marksman Adam Garmson and former Stourbridge favourite Ben Billingham.
Yet Littleton were left empty-handed when Black Country staged a superb recovery to claim the points after responding with goals from Danny Meek, Jarad Daniels and another ex Glassboy Kayelden Brown.
Black Country will look to climb higher this week when they visit Pershore Town.
Cradley Town's clash with Wolves Casuals was also called off owing to the wet weather.
It means Cradley remain in bottom spot but they have real chance to improve on that position this Saturday when they entertain Shawbury United at Beeches View Avenue.
