HOCKEY: Stourport ladies continued their strong end of season form by defeating Telford and Wrekin 2-1 on Saturday.
The team, who have already won promotion from the Midlands Division B this season, saw off a late burst of pressure by the home side.
Liz Cooke handed Stourport the lead when she deflected a short corner into the back of the net.
Cooke turned provider near the end of the first half when she found Jodie Vincent at the near post, who beat the keeper with her shot.
In the second half Telford bagged a goal on the counter-attack but Stourport held on for another victory, while player of the match was Sophie Harris.
The second team got the better of Evesham 2-1 in the Worcestershire League Division One on Saturday.
Teresa Moss opened the scoring and Fran Moss doubled the ladies' lead ten minutes later, before Evesham pulled a goal back late on.
Stourport thirds got the better of Worcester thirds 3-1 with goals for Dani Turley, Amy Smith and Ellie Rogers.
The fourth team edged out Tenbury seconds 1-0 with Kathy Doyle bagging the winner.
Chaddesley Corbett men's hopes of getting off the bottom of the Midlands League Division Two were dented after losing 6-2 to Oswestry, with goals for Brett Gwilliams and William Mack.
They remain a point behind Yardley and go to Stafford on Saturday.
