THE tandem pairing of Warren King and Michelle Brown sealed their first victory of the new time trial season for Wyre Forest in the Wrekinsport Hilly 18 mile race.
The Wyre Forest duo set a terrific pace over the early parts of the course and then hung on over the final climbs to finish in a superb time of 44 minutes and 26 seconds to win the tandem category in fine style.
Richard Miles put in a superb performance in his first race of the season to record the fastest time for a solo rider for the club over the same course, finishing in a time of 46-48 for 13th overall, followed closely by Mark West (14th, 47-21).
Andy Convery was in good form in his first race of the season and crossed the line in 47-24 for 16th place overall, while Mike Haddon finished in a very respectable time of 53-22 for 42nd place.
Wyre Forest's John Howard kicked off his season with a solid performance in the Severn Road Clubs 25m time trial at Thornbury on Sunday.
Riders had to contend with gusting winds, but Howard battled hard into the headwinds to maintain a good pace and crossed the line in a time of 1 hour 2-12, followed closely by Gary Bartram who finished in 1-3-39.
Karl Davies made a good start to his season's campaign and crossed the line in 1-7-35 to complete a good effort by the club's riders.
In the Chase Race Duathlon on Sunday, Mark Leyland finished 16th overall.
