BEWDLEY'S bid for second place in the West Midlands League Premier Division was boosted after a 4-1 victory over bottom side Bromyard Town on Saturday.
Victory means that eighth-placed Town can still catch second in the table Ellesmere Rangers, if they win their games in hand.
After mid-week 0-0 draw at Wellington it was important for Bewdley to bounce back and the side did that with an impressive display.
It was Bromyard who started the stronger and forced two penalties after errors by Sean Wright.
Keeper Tom Harper was beaten by the first spot-kick in the fifth minute but he denied Carl Fairhurst a second goal with a diving save in the 15th.
Sam Pountney levelled the scores in the 25th minute after being set up by Gary Middleton.
Brother Lewis Pountney then put Bewdley ahead, when he beat his marker and slotted the ball into the back of the net.
In the second half dominant Bewdley went 3-1 ahead when Craig Forbes lobbed Bromyard's keeper.
Victory was secured on the hour mark when Lewis Pountney swept home Forbes' cross.
Bewdley go to Brierly Hill and Withymoor in the league on Saturday (3pm kick-off).
