Evesham United 1, Stourport Swifts 0
Late Stourport pressure could not halt Evesham's march to the BGB Midland Division title with this win ensuring they maintained their nine-point lead at the top.
Home keeper Dave Adey produced a number of stunning saves to keep the visitors at bay while midfielder Richard Colwell sent an effort agonisingly over the crossbar with the final shot of the game.
The opening half brought little in the way of goalmouth action although Stourport's Andy Smith was forced into a goalline clearance to deny Mark Owen.
The breakthrough came on 62 minutes. Owen's shot on the turn was only parried by Swifts keeper Chris Jay and Gary Hay pounced to slot home the loose ball.
It was tough on Jay who had a solid game for Neil Hunt's side culminating in a smart point blank save to keep out a Danny Hodnett header.
Stourport came more into the game in the latter stages with substitute Pete Wood, pushed up front as a makeshift striker, having the bulk of the chances.
On 71 minutes he was denied by Adey and the Evesham keeper then pulled off a fine stop a minute from time to keep out Wood's deflected effort.
Swifts: Jay 8, Smith 7, Robinson 8, R Tomkins 7, Charles 8, Colwell 7, L Tomkins 7 (Wood 53, 7), Jukes 7, Roberts 6 (Williams 58, 7), Burgess 8, WEBB 9. Subs (not used): Lavery, McComiskey, Gray.
