As a contrast to the previous week Kidderminster Carolians looked positive from the kick-off in their clash with Ledbury and soon established territorial advantage.
After five minutes they were pressurising the Ledbury line and Chris Pinner opened the scoring following a forward drive, his try was converted by Tom Dalton.
KC had the better of the early exchanges; however, scoring opportunities were limited due to the good tackling of the Ledbury team. Strong KC pressure earned a penalty which was kicked by Chris Pinner.
Good work by the forwards allowed KC to win the ball near the half way line, a quick ball from Chris Pinner put Tom Dalton away on a solo 40 metre run to score a try which he converted.
KC had more pressure in the Ledbury 22 but were unable to get over because of the Ledbury defence. After about 10 minutes in the Ledbury 22 Ryan Wainwright made ground and off-loaded for George Tildesley to score, Dalton completed another conversion. At half-time KC had a deserved 24-0 lead.
The second half started to follow the direction of the first half with KC looking dangerous, good moves again being thwarted by the Ledbury defence.
In the forwards Nathan Ward, Blue Archer and Tom Kerrigan put in good shifts. From a loose maul Man of the match Blue Archer gained possession and made ground, he then set George Tildesley off on a 60 metre run to score, Dalton slotted another conversion.
In the backs George Tildesley, Chris Pinner, and Tom Dalton (with four conversions) made good contributions. Coming off the bench Morgan Maxwell showed his strength with several good runs at the Ledbury defence.
Having a good lead probably led to a lack of concentration by KC. They allowed Ledbury to open their account with an unconverted try through the backs.
Showing their superiority KC replied with George Tildesley topping a good game when he scored his third try from the Ledbury 22 line.
It seemed that again KC relaxed in the last ten minutes, letting Ledbury have some territorial advantage and able to score another converted try through their backs under the posts.
Final score: KC 36 Ledbury 12
