Kidderminster Harriers moved up to fourth in National League North after seeing off a stubborn Farsley Celtic side at Aggborough.

The Reds are now unbeaten in seven league outings after securing three points on their own turf for the first time since August.

Ben Beresford grabbed the only goal of the game, just seconds after coming on as a second half substitute to complete his timely comeback from injury - this being his second showing off the bench after suffering a hamstring injury in that August success over Oxford City.

Phil Brown kept faith with the same starting eleven that won 1-0 at Curzon Ashton on Wednesday night, but there was a place among the substitutes for new signing Taylor Foran, the former Arsenal defender who signed on loan from Bromley on Friday.

Harriers ended up winning narrowly on the day but that was largely due to the performance of Farsley goalkeeper Kieran Flavell who produced a string of saves to keep the side at bay.

After Reece Devine and Joe Foulkes struck off target in the opening minutes, Flavell had his gloves warmed by Zak Brown's 17th minute effort that needed beating away at the far post.

Brown had a further brace of efforts off target before Ashley Hemmings also curled over the bar, all before the half-hour. Flavell was again curled into action, making a sharp stop low down to prevent Foulkes from finding the bottom corner.

After the break, boss Brown waited just six minutes before bringing Beresford into the fray, just after which Amari Morgan-Smith's header was expertly kept out by the body of Flavell.

All told, though, it took less than a minute of Beresford being on the pitch for him to find the net; Hemmings' looping delivery slipping through Flavell's gloves, allowing the Birmingham City youngster to tidy it into the net.

Christian Dibble held well from Danny Greenfield's distance effort as Farsley tried to respond quickly, but that represented a rare chance for the visitors who were back under pressure from Morgan-Smith's 20-yard drive that flew over the target.

With 16 left to play, Flavell was back to his best to thwart another sub in Cadogan, before then parrying from Caleb Richards after the defender produced a mazy run to dance into the area and let fly.

Dibble had one last piece of reactive goalkeeping to do in injury time when he had to rush to gather up a deflected shot that threatened to roll into the net, but Harriers held on through four minutes of added time to move within four points of leaders Chorley ahead of Tuesday night's Aggborough clash with South Shields.
