IYSEDEN Christie has revealed that he would be happy to remain a Harrier - but the prospect of him staying at Aggborough is unlikely.

With the transfer window slamming shut on Tuesday, speculation is mounting that the top scorer will be on his way.

Christie revealed that he has spoken to Rochdale boss Steve Parkin after Harriers initially accepted, and then rejected a bid, believed to be in the region of £20,000.

The striker is wary of being portrayed as a mercenary holding the club to ransom, but insists he is only looking out for his family's future.

"I told the manager it is a mess and he agreed that it is a mess but said it's not his fault," said Christie.

"I just want to get something sorted. I like it at Kiddy, but at the same time if they're not prepared to give a season for next season or longer, I need to look elsewhere."

The ex-Mansfield and Leyton Orient frontman insisted he would be willing to uproot or commute from his Coventry home if a club for his family's financial security.

"At this stage of my career it's just about security and paying the mortgage and I don't really have massive ambitions where I must get back to the League. It's a case of needs must."

With their financial plight still not completely stable, Harriers are unable to match Christie's current wages next season."
