ANGRY Aggborough boss Mark Yates has blasted Michael Blackwood and Johnny Mullins after their foul mouths ruled them out of the Easter fixture programme.

The duo were both sent-off for swearing at the referee during the battling 2-2 at York - with Mullins' red-card coming after the final whistle.

Yates himself had a love-hate relationship with match officials as a player, but he insisted players should know when to keep their mouths shut.

He said: "I think the handball was a penalty, but Michael wasn't sent off for that. I've spoken to the referee and he was sent off for foul and abusive language, and there's no need for that.

"Michael has apologised for that, but his team-mates have got him out of a bit of a hole with me as far as the sending off goes.

"We've also had Mullins sent off in the tunnel for foul and abusive language, which is ridiculous. I can't have that.

"I was bad with referees when I was playing every week but I always knew where to draw the line.

"I want the players to be committed to the cause and I want them to win every game, but mouthing off at the referee - what does that achieve?"

With skipper Daryl Burgess also missing tomorrow's trip to Canvey Island through suspension, Yates faces a selection headache.

"We go to Canvey Island on Friday now without three players," he said.

"I've asked the boys in the dressing room what I'm supposed to do and they've said they'll dig us out of it, so I'm looking forward to that."

Yates insisted the red-cards would not detract from a performance which probably warranted all three points rather than just one.

"That was the only blemish on the afternoon really," he added.

"We would've taken the point at the start of the day but I fancied us.

"In a way I'm disappointed that we didn't see the game out but the big thing now has to be the consistency."

FIVE-A-SIDE footballers still have the chance to put their skills to the test on Kidderminster Harriers' Aggborough pitch.

The club are holding their annual five-a-side on Sunday, May 14, and have places available for teams interesting in taking part.

It costs £150 for a team of eight players, including three substitutes, to enter the tournament with refreshments in the Aggborough Suite after the event.

Places are being snapped up quickly so teams are advised to contact Helen Macdonald as soon as possible via e-mail at helen.macdonald@harriers.co.uk or by phone on 01562 823931.

WITH Harriers' first season back in the Conference fast approaching its conclusion, fans are being asked to nominate their player-of-the-season.

Supporters can vote for their star player at the Easter Monday clash with Cambridge United.
