MARK Yates has challenged Kidderminster Harriers to end their season on a high by ruining champions Accrington Stanley's promotion party at Aggborough on Saturday.
The Conference winners are expected to bring a strong away following when they roll into town this weekend after being presented with the trophy at their last home match.
Yates insists that John Coleman's Football League bound side are worthy champions - but he still thinks Harriers are capable of toppling them.
The Harriers manager has not faced Stanley before - with caretaker Martin O'Connor boss in charge of the 2-0 away defeat in December - but he knows the Lancashire club well from his time at Burnley.
"I've seen them up there and I've watched them on the television and they've got some very good players," said Yates.
"Their team spirit is something else and they've done wonders.
"Burnley reserves used to play there so I know their chairman and manager and they've done a terrific job.
"They've got big, strong, organised, talented players who can excite you and they're what winning the league is all about.
"It will be interesting for our lads to see what a winning team of champions look like."
Yates believes Stanley are worthy champions, but fancies his players to poop their party.
"We'll give them plaudits before the game, then do our best to beat them," he said.
"We don't want it to fizzle out into a promotion party, we want to go out on a high by beating the champions."
Two men who won't be featuring in Harriers' final game of the season are loanees Simon Rea and Jon Newby who have returned to Nuneaton and Bury respectively.
Jonny Harkness is also a doubt with the achilles problem which kept the left-footer out of last Saturday's 3-0 defeat at Dagenham and Redbridge.
While the players will wind down after Saturday's final match, Yates's work is only just beginning as he announces his retained list and works his way through his summer transfer targets.
"I will sit down with the lads that are here now early next week and tell them whether we want them to stay, but I don't want to say any more about that yet," said Yates.
"Neil Howarth and I have got a list of targets we want to bring in and we want to make sure we start with the spine of the team.
"It's major work time for us trying to get players we've watched over the last few months.
"We know what we want but it might not happen instantly as a lot of players will be keeping their options open for a while."
As well as recruiting potential stars of the future, Yates has also been busy contacting Harriers heroes from the past.
He is putting together a team of legends for the annual Five-a-side tournament at Aggborough on Sunday, May 5.
Yates will be definitely be joined by Paul Webb, Kim Casey, Paul Davies, Chris Brindley and Jon Purdie, while he is still working on persuading a couple of mystery players to lace up their boots.
There are still a limited numbers of places available for people wishing to enter teams in the tournament. It costs £150 for a team of eight players with refreshments in the Aggborough Suite included in the price.
"I'll be joining a team of ex-Harriers' players for the Five-a-Side day which we're looking forward to,"said Yates.
"Hopefully the remaining three spaces will be filled quickly, it's going to be a great day that'll support the club."
To enter a team contact Helen Macdonald as soon as possible via e-mail on helen.macdon ald@harriers.co.uk, or phone on 01562 823931.
With the on-pitch action drawing to a close, the club are also arranging a Golf Day so fans can putt themselves through their paces on the fairways.
Held at Kidderminster Golf Club on Thursday, June 8, the event will feature golf, a buffet lunch and a presentation dinner. For more information call Mark Searl on 07711 597081.
Supporters group KHIST are holding a World Cup raffle at Saturday's match and up until to the knockout stages of the tournament.
Tickets priced £1 corresponding to each of the 32 nations will be on sale at the ground. People who choose the eventual World Cup winner will be entered into a prize draw after the final.
The top prize is a season ticket for your club, up to the value of £250.
Those who pick the second and third-placed teams will go into the draw for £75 and £25 respectively.
